Owen Murray is Professor of accordion and head of the accordion department at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was appointed in 1986, and in 1993 Owen was awarded the Academy's highest honour,, Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music (Hon.RAM), in recognition of his work in developing a world renowned accordion department and for his success on the concert platform.
 
Student Success
 
Student successes in competitions involving all instruments and voice have included the Derek Butler London Prize (contested by students from all four of the London conservatories); Royal Over-Seas League; Friends of the RAM Wigmore Award; RAM Club Prize; Park Lane Contemporary Music Concert Series. Accordion only competitions: Klingenthal; Arrasate; Castelfidardo; Coupe Mondiale.
